The Largo José Cavaco Vieira, opposite the House of Commons, is the heart of the village, which hosts fairs and markets, meet local people and get the people out. A short walk away is the Mother Church and Vocational School Cândido Guerreiro.

Take a short walk through the beautiful streets of Alte , from the Chapel of St. Louis, to the Small and Large Fonts, where you can enjoy the beauty and freshness of the valley of the Ribeira de Alte and the sound of running water. Along the way enjoy the details of traditional architecture. Follow after the course of Ribeira, passing by the old mills of Levada and Bridge, following the ruins of mills Dome, Uncle Guerrilla, the Fall of the Vicar and finally by Mills Pisão and Ti Victor. On returning to the village, visit the Casa d’ Alte Memory – Pole Museológico the Esparto and Municipal Tourism Tour, where you can find some local crafts and produce and get to know a little more about Alte and his parish. In the same building still finds a pottery workshop, where you can admire the production of ceramics and handmade tiles. Head up then to Horta of Arts – Arts and Culture Centre, where you can meet ongoing activities or to see an art exhibition. In the village you can find, in addition to several craft shops, shoemakers, craftsmen and ceramic tiles, lace and embroidery, cakes and traditional desserts.

Also worth mentioning that the hills of the parish who still works there esparto, palm and taboo, as well as producers of honey and water – honey, sausages arbutus brandy and fresh goat cheese among others.

The road to Rock Soídos offers breathtaking scenery, spotting up the sea in the south horizon.

In Sarnadas, a village of creative people, can be found storytellers, musicians, painters, craftsmen working esparto, palm and pita, producers of honey and brandy and yet … a healer.
