Carnival Sunday and Tuesday

The organization is the responsibility of the Alte Parish Council.

Considered the most traditional of the Algarve, it is already a regional reference within the events of its kind.

During the two days of Corso, the original floats parade (made with flowers of paper and other materials, by the population of Altense that at this time "unites" around this cause, which is of high importance for the village and the parish of Alte) and the groups of revelers very creative.

At night the usual Foliões Bailes take place at Casa do Povo de Alte.

By Easter time

The Clube Desportivo e Cultural das Sarnadas organizes in its headquarters the already traditional Baile da Pinha.

From Good Friday to Easter Sunday

Grupo Desportivo Serrano organizes several sports activities, including mountain biking, traditional games and dances, to celebrate Easter.

Easter Sunday

In the early afternoon, near Casa do Povo de Alte, the Folkloric Group parades again, distributing the traditional "folar" and medronho brandy to the population and all visitors, followed by the "bailo" (performance) in Fonte Grande.

april 25th to May 1st

The Arts and Cultures Week has been taking place since 1995, the name it had at that time. Nowadays it is called Cultural Week and it is a joint organization of the Junta de Freguesia de Alte, Escola Profissional Cândido Guerreiro and Grupo Folclórico da Casa do Povo de Alte, in collaboration with other local entities.

It starts with a Mountain Bike Ride, one of the biggest in the country, organized by the Escola Profissional Cândido Guerreiro, which is also responsible for organizing the Gastronomic Festival and the Handicraft Fair.

The Cultural Week of Alte encompasses a wide range of activities, from exhibitions, promotion of local cuisine and handicrafts, musical performances, magazine, theater, children's entertainment, sports and culminates with the commemorations of the 1st of May.

This event assumes an important promotional role of Alte, being the largest cultural initiative held in a rural environment, at the level of the parish.

1st of May

Event organized by the Folkloric Group of Casa do Povo de Alte.

On this day the Folklore is in party to commemorate the May 1st - Workers Day.

The party "starts" in the early afternoon, near Casa do Povo de Alte, with the "Wedding" and the traditional parade of Folkloric Groups (national and foreign) to the "Fonte Grande", where there will be greetings from the "Bride and Groom" and "Bailo" animated by different performances. There the traditional "Boda" of the Wedding is served (traditional food).

Last Sunday of May

This meeting is organized by the Grupo Desportivo Serrano, which includes an exhibition of antique motorcycles and a ride of about 25 km through the parish, ending with a lunch at its headquarters. It counts year after year with the participation of more lovers of these relics.

Saint Peter's Eve

An organization of the Junta de Freguesia de Alte in collaboration with the Centro de Animação e Apoio Comunitário da Freguesia de Alte. Free sardinhada followed by a dance and performances of the Popular Marches of Casa da Criança and the Popular March of Salir.

2nd weekend of August

Organized by Clube Desportivo e Cultural das Sarnadas. Traditional games, Quermesse and dances are held.

2nd Saturday of August

Event organized by the Folkloric Group of "Casa do Povo de Alte".

The party "starts" in the late afternoon, near Casa do Povo de Alte, with the "Wedding" and the traditional parade of Folkloric Groups (national and foreign) to the Fonte Grande, where there will be greeting of the Bride and Groom and "Bailo" animated by different performances. There the traditional "Boda" of the Wedding is served (traditional food).

3rd weekend of August

The Grupo Desportivo Serrano organizes several activities: Soccer Squadrangular, traditional games, pig wrestling, the release of the cows, traditional music groups and dances.

Last Saturday of October

To give another "use" to agricultural tractors, the Serrano Sports Group created this tour, which culminates with a lunch outside its headquarters.

october 31st

It is already a tradition in Alte the celebration of Halloween. The program is filled with lots of animation.

Last week of classes before Christmas vacations

This Party is organized by the Junta de Freguesia, with the support of the Centro de Animação e Apoio Comunitário à Freguesia de Alte, for all the students of the parish with children's entertainment and a snack.
